Description
This activity will introduce you to recent updates in the 5th edition of the WHO classification of adult renal epithelial tumors, while also discussing some emerging entities. The information provided will guide you on how to use morphologic features to form a differential diagnosis for adult renal epithelial tumor subtypes, including cortical and medullary-based tumors, and then how to confirm such diagnoses using ancillary studies (predominantly IHC, but some genetic and molecular information will also be presented). Importantly, diagnostic pitfalls and how specific diagnoses can affect the clinical management of patients will also be discussed.

This activity was presented at the 2023 CAP Pathology in the Islands as part of the activity Updates in Adult Renal Neoplasia.
