This Virtual Biopsy Program (VBP) activity features five cases in which you will review whole slide images of surgical specimens to diagnose diseases. Each case includes clinical history, specimen source information, diagnostic findings and/or other ancillary testing data, and a three-question assessment.
After completing this activity, you should be able to:
- Examine whole slide biopsy images from a variety of sites and establish the diagnosis by integration of clinical information and morphologic findings.
- Select appropriate ancillary studies to confirm the diagnosis.
- Recognize the diagnostic challenges of various disease entities based on biopsies.
- Use the program as a benchmark for diagnostic performance and source of information for quality improvement.
